Orlando Pirates Beat Chippa United 3-0
Orlando Pirates are on top of the world – and on top of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) table – following their dominant 3-0 win over Chippa United on Sunday, 16 August.
Their match at Kings Park Stadium in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, saw both teams hunting for victory after disappointing draws in their recent fixtures.
The first half saw both sides struggling to break through each other’s defences. However, the deadlock was broken by Pirates in the 60th minute when Ghampani Lungu found the back of the net with a long-range shot from the penalty area.
Building on this breakthrough, teammate Lebone Seema doubled the advantage with a header, pushing the score to 2-0.
Despite Chippa’s earnest defensive efforts, a lapse in concentration proved costly as the Buccaneers cruised to a 3-0 victory, with substitute Daniel Msendami sealing the win with the match’s final goal.
As a result, Orlando Pirates have moved to first place in the PSL rankings with seven points. As for Chippa United, they now occupy 13th place with a meagre two points.
